The company needed a multi-tenant SaaS LMS that could serve all clients from a single infrastructure while presenting each client's learners with a fully branded, isolated experience.
Challenges & Problem Statement
EduSphere's growth was constrained by a legacy LMS that could not scale to multi-client requirements:
- Single-tenant architecture not scalable: The legacy LMS required a separate installation for each enterprise client — creating an unmanageable maintenance burden as the client base grew and making any platform update a multi-deployment operation.
- No content authoring tools: Course content was created externally and uploaded as static files — with no in-platform tools for instructors to build structured modules, add assessments, or sequence learning paths.
- Limited assessment types: The legacy system supported only multiple-choice quizzes. EduSphere's compliance training clients required scenario-based assessments, video-based submissions, and timed certificate examinations.
- No learner progress analytics: EduSphere had no visibility into learner engagement, completion rates, assessment scores, or time-on-module across their client base — making it impossible to demonstrate training ROI to procurement teams.
- Manual certificate issuance: Course completion certificates were manually designed and emailed — a process that didn't scale beyond 50 completions per day and was prone to errors and delays.
Project Overview
TTPL designed and delivered EduSphere LMS — a multi-tenant React + Laravel SaaS learning management system supporting per-tenant branding isolation, in-platform course authoring, a polymorphic assessment engine, AWS CloudFront video delivery, dynamic PDF certificate generation, and SCORM 1.2/2004 compatibility. Each enterprise client operates within a fully isolated branded subdomain, with independent content libraries, learner cohorts, and analytics dashboards.
Approach
TTPL designed the multi-tenancy model around a Tenant entity driving all scoping — every course, learner record, enrollment, assessment attempt, and certificate is keyed to a tenant at the database level. Subdomain-based routing resolves tenant context at the middleware layer before any authentication or data access occurs. Content storage uses per-tenant prefixed S3 buckets with signed CloudFront URLs for all media delivery — ensuring tenant content is never directly accessible cross-tenant. The assessment engine uses a polymorphic Question model with type-specific behavior classes handling scoring, branching, and attempt rules — adding a new question type requires a new behavior class without modifying the engine core. Certificate generation is a stateless Lambda function invoked on-completion, producing a signed PDF with an embedded QR code linking to a public certificate verification endpoint.

Multi-Tenant Architecture with Full Brand Isolation
Each enterprise client operates on an isolated branded subdomain with their own logo, color scheme, learner cohorts, and content library. Tenant context is resolved at the middleware layer — no learner or content data crosses tenant boundaries at any API layer.
In-Platform Course Authoring
Instructors build structured courses with drag-and-drop module sequencing, rich text content blocks, embedded video, downloadable resources, and prerequisite enforcement between modules. Courses can be published, drafted, or archived independently of learner enrollments.
Polymorphic Assessment Engine
Supports multiple-choice, scenario-based branching, fill-in-the-blank, video submission, and timed certificate exam question types. Each type has independent scoring rules, attempt limits, and time constraints. Assessment results are stored per learner per attempt with full answer history for audit.
AWS CloudFront Video Delivery with Adaptive Bitrate
Video lectures processed through AWS Elemental MediaConvert into HLS packages and delivered via CloudFront with signed URLs. Adaptive bitrate streaming adjusts quality based on learner connection speed — eliminating buffering issues reported on the legacy platform.
Automated Certificate Generation with QR Verification
Course completion triggers a Lambda function generating a branded PDF certificate with learner name, course title, completion date, tenant branding, and a unique certificate ID embedded in a QR code. Certificates are emailed immediately and verifiable via a public URL without requiring a login.
Learner Analytics & Completion Reporting
Per-tenant analytics dashboards show enrollment counts, module completion rates, assessment scores, time-on-module, and learner leaderboards. EduSphere account managers use the data to demonstrate training ROI to enterprise procurement contacts during renewal conversations.

EduSphere LMS launched with 8 enterprise clients onboarded in the first month and scaled to 34 active tenants within six months.
